When Emma Wolff, a young farmer’s daughter, left Useldange for America, she promised that upon her return, she would buy the town’s castle. A few years later, the now wealthy Emma returned to become the owner of Useldange Castle. This feat in particular earned her the nickname of “Dollarmatti”.

The sports and adventure youth hostel is located on the Echternach lake and has its own climbing wall. Initiation courses are regularly offered here for children, young people and adults. Children/young people up to 15 years included only if accompanied by a full-paying adult!

The educational cultural trail around the fortress is especially designed for people with visual impairment and was created under the auspices of UNESCO. Model buildings of the fortress, the old church and the circular route are available for touching.

The impressive castle of Bourscheid belongs to the most valuable historical possessions of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Its story begins with the first lord of the castle, Bertram of Bourscheid, whose name was mentioned in 1095 for the first time in the castle history.

The walls of this castle have a lot to show and tell. Together, we will discover the didactic route around the castle, the crypt and the herbgarden. At the end of the tour, you will be rewarded with a majestic view of Useldange from a height of 28 meters.
