When Emma Wolff, a young farmer’s daughter, left Useldange for America, she promised that upon her return, she would buy the town’s castle. A few years later, the now wealthy Emma returned to become the owner of Useldange Castle. This feat in particular earned her the nickname of “Dollarmatti”.

This museum was set up in 1999 with the support of the commune of Wiltz and the Brotherhood of Gambrinus.The "Syndicat d’initiative", the tourist office of Wiltz, manages the site and the collections.

The educational cultural trail around the fortress is especially designed for people with visual impairment and was created under the auspices of UNESCO. Model buildings of the fortress, the old church and the circular route are available for touching.
